Thanks to DoorCounty.com for the great video about PC Junction, a great family restaurant in Door County Wisconsin. We take our kids to PC Junction every year and they love it. From the slide out front to the train that brings around your lunch or dinner, PC Junction is definitely a restaurant I recommend in Door County.

Top 3 Reasons to Eat at Al Johnson’s in Door County

This won’t be new news to most of our readers, but since we’re getting the word out more and more online about one of the best family vacation destinations in the Mid-West, we figured Door County visitors should know why they have to eat at Al Johnson’s:

1. The Goats on the Roof!

Even my little three year old talks about the place where the “goats eat all the grass off the roof…” FYI, many may think this is a Swedish tradition but it’s not. According to one of the native Swede’s that I talked to in the gift shop, the grass on the roof is tradition but the goats was something they did for fun and it stuck. I’d say it is one of the big draws and for this, it gets NUMBER 1!

2. The Swedish Pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream.

There isn’t too much I have to say about this. Just look at the picture and let your mouth water!

3.The Best Family Atmosphere.

Everyone in our family loves this place. We don’t have to worry about the kids being a bit rambunctious and the food is amazing. It’s definitely one of those family traditions that, when we go to Door County, it’s a no-brainer that we’re eating at Al Johnson’s.

I’m sure the list could go on and on.

Bailey’s Harbor – the place for Door County Restaurants

Bailey’s Harbor is one of the more quiet villages. Located on Lake Michigan, it was named after Captain Justice Bailey, who found refuge here during a wild storm in 1848. The specialty of this town is its marina where Charter fishing boats are readily available to help you bring home a King Salmon, and lighthouses which can be toured throughout the year, but particularly the 3rd weekend of May, during the Door County Lighthouse Walk. But if you’re not planning on Charter Fishing or touring lighthouses, Bailey’s Harbor may not be the best fit for you.

With fewer and older Door County Hotels and restaurants, downtown Bailey’s is a quiet village on the outskirts of the heart of the Door. In fact, I’ve been to a few restaurants here that I would even classify as “dives,” and although I’ve never stayed at one of their hotels, none of them have caught my eye, either. My favorite spots in Bailey’s are: The Yum Yum Tree, Maxwelton Braes golf course, the view from Hwy 42 as you come into town, and Coyote Roadhouse(located on the outskirts of town). So, if we’re asking if Bailey’s is the Best the Peninsula has to offer, I would say, “Not even close.”
